Sir
Roger has agreed to become a Patron of STARS (Syncope Trust and
Reflex Anoxic Seizures)
Syncope
is the result of the temporary cutting off of the supply of oxygenated
blood to the brain. Reflex Anoxic Seizures occur when an unexpected
stimulus such as pain, shock or fright causes the heart and breathing
to stop.
It
was a syncopal attack that Sir Roger suffered on stage in New York
recently, before having a pacemaker fitted.
Sir
Roger said: "I am very happy to be associated with STARS. It is
a small charity but one that does vital work. I'm delighted to help
in any way I can, especially as I know how frightening it can be
for an adult, let alone a child to suffer an attack."
