 Ananova:
Sir Roger hit by stage fright at the palace

Sir Roger Moore says he had the worst attack of stage fright as he received his knighthood.

The 75-year-old, who was knighted for his tireless charity work, revealed that the Queen had recognised his dilemma.

The actor said: "I had the worst attack of stage fright in my life. When you realise the gravitas of the situation, it's slightly nerve-racking. It was like a costume drama and I was Sir Ivanhoe - a part I have played, incidentally."

"Her Majesty said I'd been involved with charities for a long time but she supposed that people will always call me 007. I said that I didn't mind because I was paid money for it!"

The former screen secret agent was honoured at the Buckingham Palace investiture, not for his long acting career, which included seven Bond movies, but for his work with Unicef, the United Nations Children's Fund.

Sir Roger has been a Unicef goodwill ambassador for the past 12 years and also supports another children's charity, Kiwanis International.

He is the second James Bond to be knighted, following in the footsteps of fellow 007 Sir Sean Connery, who was honoured three years ago.

Sir Roger was awarded a CBE in 1999 for his charity fundraising, which he began in 1991 at the suggestion of the late actress Audrey Hepburn, herself a Unicef goodwill ambassador.

Earlier this year he had a pacemaker fitted after collapsing on stage during a performance on New York's Broadway.
