Roger Moore was knighted yesterday but admitted to being as shaken as one of James Bond's martinis during the ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

"I had the worst attack of stage fright in my life," the 75-year-old actor said.

Sir Roger was honoured for his charity work. He has been a Unicef goodwill ambassador for 12 years and also supports Kiwanis International, a children's charity, but he is still best recognised for his role in seven Bond films.

"Her Majesty said I'd been involved with charities for a long time but she supposed that people will always call me 007," he said.

Sting was made a CBE. Announced as "Gordon Sumner, known as Sting", the 51-year-old singer and songwriter said: "I was quite nervous. I've never met the Queen before."
