Dear Sir Roger,
I am David, aged 17, again. First of all I hope
you have had a merry Christmas with your family.
My question for December is a little frustrating... My studies
are not as good as they used to be. I have failed physics, and
I must confess I am disapponinted and depressed. I am studying
for a second opportunity on 8th January. I feel really bad.
And here is my question: We all your fans know all about your
achievements and about your successful and impeccable career.
But we does not know anything about your failures. Have you ever
had a failure? Have you ever felt dissappointed or depressed?
And what makes you feel better? I think this is a very important
question because I fear I am not the one depressed person...
That´s all for December
Happy New Year!!
From your Spanish fan,
David Herce Pérez
Hi
David. Happy new year to you.
Studies are, of course, very
important. Unfortunately I was a chjild during World War II and
as a result was moved around the country quite a lot, and to a
lot of different schools. My studies, such as they were, certainly
suffered. I left school at a relatively young age and started
work. As I showed a slight talent for animation, I began work
at a company in London - a lowly cell filler, and tea maker. I
enjoyed it though.
However, one day I messed
up, and got fired!
That was the worst day of
my life. I thought it was the end. It couldn't improve after this
major set back. I was very depressed. In fact, it was the best
thing to happen to me as because I was unemployed a few friends
of mine told me about film "extra" work they were doing,
and got me signed up. And so began my career in acting.
Life can get you down. Some
days are pretty grotty. But set backs will make you stronger and
wiser. Believe me!

Dear Sir Roger
I am a 12 year old 007 fan, whose stepfather is
a member of your forum (he really likes The Man Who Haunted Himself
and The Saint).
I hope to become an actress when I leave school
and as you are one of Britain's top actors, and the best James
Bond ever, I was wondering if you could please give me any advice.
My stepfather says to buy a white Volvo P1800 but he is just silly.
Thank you very much.
Best Wishes
Holly Wilson
Hello
Holly
You're very kind in your words to me. You'll go
far!
If you want to be an actor, nothing and no one will
stop you. You will, though, have to be determined, prepared to
suffer tough times and rejection, but if you can show a passion
and enjoy what you do, then you'll succeed.
I would advise you to visit the theatre as often
as possible, and indeed the cinema. There are some very good tv
shows on like Casualty and The Bill too which have terrific actors
in them. Watch. Observe. Learn.
I learnt a lot from watching. Maybe join a drama
group in your school or local community too. That's a great place
to learn..

Dear Sir Roger
You have often spoken about how Audrey Hepburn was
the inspiration behind you becoming a Unicef ambassador.
What do you think of the fact that, nearly 14 years
after her death, she is still helping the disadvantaged children
of the world, following the sale of her ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’
dress for over £400,000; the proceeds going to help the
City of Joy Aid charity build schools for children?
Best wishes – I look forward to your appearances
on the ‘Paul O’Grady Show’.
Peter
Hi Peter
I was absolutely thrilled
to hear the dress raised so much. I know the auction estimate
was £50,000 - £70,000 which itself is a huge sum,
but when it exceeded half a million ... wow!
Audrey's spirit lives on.
UNICEF has never forgotten the great work she did and commitment
she made. She inspired so many others, and is still grabbing the
headlines.
I look forward to The Paul
O'Grady show too - it's always huge fun, and I get to see my pal
Buster. The Green Room serve terrific canapes afterwards, and
their sausages are delicious ... as Buster will testify.

Dear Sir Roger,
As the holiday season is approaching, I find myself
thinking about Christmas memories and traditions my family shared
when I was a little girl. The holidays always centered around
family gatherings and Christmas plays at church. My mother loved
Christmas and all it's magic. She made sure my brothers and I
believed in Santa Claus for as long as possible. I was wondering
if you would share some of your fondest Christmas memories with
us? Were there any "special" family Christmas traditions
you and your parents shared and have you continued those traditions
with your own children and grandchildren?
I wish you and your family a blessed holiday season
full of love, health and friends. God bless you and Lady Moore
in all you do for the children of our world.
Love from the US, Dee
Hi Dee
Yes, I remember it as being
a magical time as a child. There was always a huge anticipation
and excitement as the day approached.
My parents would fill a huge
stocking and hang it at the bottom of my bed ... I'd wake up on
Christmas morning, full of excitement and dive into the stocking
of goodies
.
When I had children, I loved
seeing them enjoy the magic of diving in to their stockings ...
and indeed now my grandchildren.
I very much enjoy having
my family around me at Christmas and New Year. It is a time for
family.
I wish you and your's a healthy
and happy New year.

Dear Sir Roger,
Should I be lucky and my question be chosen, I would
like to take this opportunity to wish you a very happy, healthy
and prosperous New Year.
I recently watched a sketch you did in 1964 in which
you played James Bond (probably for the first time). It is shows
James Bond (alias Mr. Smith…) on holiday and is very, very
funny for me!
My question is: do you remember doing that sketch
and who your colleagues were? I neither know the actress who played
the Russian spy nor the gentleman who played the waiter. Did you
have the same fun doing it as we are having watching it?
Thank you very much and I wish you many funny moments in the New
Year.
With kind regards
Martin
My goodness Martin. That was
a real memory jerker. Where on earth did you find that?
I vaguely remember doing it,
yes - well I do now. I can't recall the names of the others involved,
mind you I did watch it on the afternoon of January 1st nursing
a rather large headache! Ooh I shall have to watch that red wine,
it's lethal !
I shall have to watch it again
with a clearer head and see if I can remember.
Thank you for sending me that
link.

Dear Roger,
You have been my hero and friend (although you don,t
know me!) all my life..well since early teens. I use your lines
from the 007 films on girls and sometimes it works and sometimes
it does,nt work! I do charity work for GetKidsFit and Make a wish
foundation and am indeed running the New York Marathon for these
charities later in the year.
I have followed your career forever and just have a couple of
questions...! A couple of hundred but will keep it to a couple!
Do you ever drive back around Streatham, Stockwell, Denham or
Pinewood to reminisce on how far you have come?? What is your
favourite cocktail? and if you had a day left to live..what drink
would you have, what film would you watch and what would be your
final meal although you will of course last forever!!!
I raise a glass to you, you are a hugely generous and popular
actor and a huge influence on me and many others. As they say,
no one does it better!!!! Sam
Hi Sam
Keep up the good work!
I last drove through Stockwell
about, oh, two years ago. It had changed so much I didn't recognise
too much. Denham and Pinewood I visited more recently. Last year
I was in Denham for John Mills' funeral. A sad occassion. Though
through it, many happy memories were brough back to me.
It was the first time Kristina
had been there.
I keEp an office at Pinewood,
so am there more often. The last time was ... gosh ... not since
May actually. Where does the time go?
It's nice to visit my old
haunts. I have so many happy memories of them.
Favourite cocktail? Oh blimey,
I'm a bit hung over so shouldn't be talking of suxh things. I
do like a gin martini. And though not a cocktail, I'm also partial
to a Jack Daniels or three.
As for a meal and a film ...
well, how about a delicious pork pie, with oodles of jelly inside,
and Lawrence Of Arabia.
Thank you to Sir Roger Moore
