Hello Sir Roger
I will be visiting Italy in late May (in particular The Almalfi Coast, Rome and
Florence)and just wondered if you might suggest any places of interest there that you may have visited and enjoyed please?
Many thanks
Kind regards as always
Noel
Positano
Hi Noel
Rome and Florence are lovely. Though I do find the pace in Rome rather hectic, and the airport is certainly not my favourite!
I'll be spending a couple of days in Positano in May, which is a lovely spot on the Amalfi coast. It's all very beautiful down there and I hope you have a good trip.

Dear Sir Roger, the writer and producer Sidney Sheldon just died a few days. I know that you played in the film “The naked face” (1984), based in the novel of Sheldon, directed by your friend, Bryan Forbes and produced by Globus / Golem. By the way, which are your memories about this writer and the movie. Thanks a lot.
Dixon Moya
Bogotá, Colombia

Hi Dixon
Yes I was saddened to hear the news. It was I who suggested the book could be a good film to my friend Bryan Forbes. At that time Cannon had taken over the studio where Bryan had been head of production, and were keen to make a film with me. It all kind of gelled. Sheldon was a terrific writer and a very interesting man.
I think it is one of my better movies, and still stands up today. It was hindered greatly by an 18 certificate in the UK. Looking at it today, it would barely get a 15 certificate. That certainly affected its box office, which is a shame.
Ros Steiger, bless him, had just had plastic surgery. Literally the week before. He had this wig to cover the scars. We were terrified of touching it in case his face fell off!
We had a great few months filming in Chicago. I wish I could do it all again.
Hello
Holly

Dear Sir Roger,
I have observed that your style and fellow actor Patrick Macnee's style when playing a character on the screen seem very similar. In other word's intelligent, refined, sauve, and urbane. I know you have acted in projects with Mr. Macnee, would you also be friends?
Best regards
Bruce from Manty

Hi Bruce
Yes Pat and I go back many, many years. We were in rep together. Later on he was filming The Avengers at Elstree and I was making The Saint, so we saw a lot of each other. In the 1970s we made a tv movie in the USA called 'Sherlock Holmes In New York'. We had such a hoot that hoped to work together again, and in the 1980s I had the opportunity, twice, of co-starring with Pat. First was'The Sea Wolves' and then when I received the script for my last Bond, 'A View To A Kill' - I thought of Pat for Sir Godfrey. Curiously he'd heard that there could be a part in it for him and mentioned it to me. Great minds think alike.
I called Cubby and suggested Pat. He said "Roger I was thinking the very same". Wonderful.
I love Pat dearly.

Dear Sir Roger
Thank you very much for answering my question about Audrey Hepburn in December. My new question also relates to Unicef.
Your artistic talents are certainly been used to great benefit for charity at the moment with the mug on www.whateverittakes.org and the doodle on www.nationaldoodleday.org.uk
The drawing I particularly like is the drawing you did almost 10 years ago, in March 1997, of ‘The Saint’ with a Unicef halo and five little stick children in each hand. In fact I think that its sums up Unicef, and the marvellous work you do for them, perfectly.
My question is – do you think that the drawing would make ideal artwork for Unicef greeting cards? I have no doubt, that given your fan base, that they would be a good seller.
Best wishes Peter

Hello Peter
Well yes, that's an interesting idea. Why don't you suggest it to UNICEF in London - far better coming from you than me!
.

Hi Roger
I have been watching the re runs of both the Persuaders and The Saint on ITV 4 I must say it takes me back down memory lane. I wonder if Either Alan or Sir Roger could clear up something for me please? I seem to remember either 1971 or 1972 Sir Roger coming to Wakefield in West Yorkshire to open a new branch of C+A clothes stores, was this a promotional tour? I see that Sir Roger did have Debenhams (I think ?) sponsorship for clothing on the persuaders?
I am sure Im right about the visit as I remeber thinking I would play truant from school on the day to go and see him if I could, in the end I didnt! Anyway
Thanks Sir Roger you have always been one of my closet to the heart Heroes!

More on this story here

Hello Paul
I think you're right. I vaguely recall going to Wakefield. I was a director of a clothing firm up in Bradford, and would often be in the area and be asked to do such things.
I hope you did well in school, and are now glad you didn't bunk off!

Hello Sir Roger
A few weeks ago I was watching the Australian Open (tennis)and saw Roger Federer win again. The reason I like him (apart from the fact he plays great tennis) is he seems to be a genuinely humble and nice person like yourself.
My question is this: I understand he has recently become another UNICEF ambassador, have you met him and if so what was your impression of him please?
Thanks again for answering our questions.
Greetings from Australia
Noel
Hello again Noel
Yes indeed he is now a Goodwill Ambassador. We were due to meet last year when he was about 15 km from me in Switzerland. It was all set up, and then I heard from his people that his plans had changed. So we never quite made it.
Hopefully this year ...
Thank you to Sir Roger Moore
