Hi Sir Roger,

You worked with Telly Savalas in Escape to Athena. As a fellow Greek-American, I always liked him and took pride in his work. What was he like off screen?

And I know that you worked in Greece on some projects in the past. Is there anything special about that country that has stood out to you? I visited once many years ago and hope to go back again.

Thanks,

Carolina

Hi Carolina

I had known Telly some years before I worked with him, primarily because we frequented the same gambling clubs! The film we made together was shot on Rhodes by the way, ESCAPE TO ATHENA.

He was great fun to be around and often had his brothers with him, who were consumate gamblers too.

I have worked in Greece a few times, and think it is one of the most beautiful places in the world. My last time was about 6 years ago where I cruised around the Greek Islands making a film called BOAT TRIP. The people, scenery, food and wine all make to combine for memorable trips.

Dear Sir Roger .

I hope you are well and look forward for the publicity tour for your biographie, I cant wait to hold it in my hand and read it.

Now to my question. Since over ten years "The Simpsons" are a very funny and sucessful tv-show.
In this series are also much jokes about you, for example there is a episode in which the comic book guy sells a picture from Sean Connery which is signed by you, in an other episode the only british thing that Homer knows is "Octogirl thingy".
Also there is an episode, which is an parody of the bondpicture(with an character named "James Bont" :))
I would like to know what do you think about "The Simpsons" and if you maybe had sometime an offer to appear in the show (as for example did Pierce Brosnan).
I think that would be very funny.

I thank you for spent your time to read the question from your fans, and wish you a great time and all the best.

Your Fan, Volker Möbus

Thanks Volker.

I don't really watch the show I'm afraid, but I hear it's very popular. I've not been approached to lend my tonsils to it ... yet!

Dear Sir Roger,

I recently had the pleasure of meeting your old friend Robert Dix at a movie memorabilia convention.  I did a video interview with him for my website about his involvement in Live and Let Die and how he became the short lived agent 'Hamilton'.  He spoke very highly about you and your long time friendship from the early days at MGM.

One of the questions that came up during our conversation was the name of the actor who played the assassin who sticks the knife into Hamilton's gut.  Mr. Dix did not remember the man's name and there is no mention of this person in the end credits.

However, I was able to find in your James Bond Diary that the actor was the late Kid Thomas Valentine, who was a founding member of Preservation Hall.  Unfortunately, actual photos of Kid Thomas on the Internet and the assassin in the film do not look like each other.

So my question to you is this, is the New Orleans' assassin really Kid Thomas or just another unknown extra?

Hi there Mr Nameless

Yes I first met Bob five decades ago at MGM. My mother was a huge fan of his father's films from long before. I hope Bob was looking well, and do give him my best should you run into him again.

I'm afraid I'm none too sure who that actor was that you ask about as it's been a while since I saw the film. Answers on a postcard please!

Dear Sir Roger,

First off, please allow me to say it is lovely that you communicate so directly with your admirers.  Your work as an actor most definitely sparked my lifelong love with cinema.  I sincerely thank you for the many memories you have provided through your work in the entertainment field.  I also must applaud your humanitarian work.  Your efforts speaks volumes to your fine character.

Now for my question.

I am quite the fan of THE PERSUADERS - particularly its breezy international style.  I have noted that you are credited with your own fashion design.  They are incredible, I must say!  Very soon to be in vogue again!  I would love to hear about your foray into design.  What were your inspirations?  Were these designs available in the shops?  Who were your collaborators in these efforts?

Thank you for considering this query!

All Best,
Matthew

Hi Matthew

I was involved in a company based in Bradford at the end of the 1960s, a clothing company that is. I was a sort of roving ambassador for them. When The Persuaders came along, they offered to make my outfits. I made a few suggestions as to the type of clothes, and was henceforth credited with their design!

I don't think these particular designswere available in the shops.

Dear Sir Roger,

I hope this communication finds you well.

One of your compatriots, Sir Paul McCartney, was in Quebec City last week. He contributed nicely to our 400th Birthday Party with an outdoor show on the Plains of Abraham; where more than 250 000 people acclaimed his first-class performance. Among the strong moments, I certainly must mentioned the one when Paul performed "live and let die". As fireworks banged and fizzed above the stage, someone nearby made me smile by mentioning that we only missed James Bond coming out from backstage. Yes indeed, I thought within myself, it certainly would have been great to have the real James bond, aka Sir Roger Moore, coming out with his Beretta 418... http://www.roger-moore.com/images/forum/smilies/wink.gif

And this film also happened to be your first appearance as James Bond, if I'm not wrong. At that time, did you have the opportunity to meet Paul? If so, do you still happen to see each other and have you ever had the opportunity to work together on social issues?

It's always a real pleasure to read you.

Best regards,

Eric
Quebec City (Canada)

Hi Eric

Yes I've met Paul many times, and knew him (through Jane Asher) before The Beatles reached the dizzy heights that they did.

When George Martin recorded the Bond song with Paul, he presented it to Harry Saltzman - our co-producer - who wasn't too struck.

'Okay,' he said, 'but who shall we get to siong it?' He was serious! Needless to say he was told that he already had one of the most successful recording artists.

Dear Sir Roger,
Your fans and admirers around the world are very much looking forward to the release of the long waited autobiography “MY WORD IS MY BOND”.
For many, to get an autographed copy would be a dream come true.
I understand that you and the publisher are promoting the book worldwide by going on tour. However, the selected cities are so limited and for many people it is just impossible to get there.
Therefore, I tentatively seek your permission to hear out my proposal: would it be possible that through this Forum or maybe the UNICEF’s website to allow every Forum member the privilege to purchase an autographed copy of your autobiography? Apart from P/H fees, a small potion of the total sales can then contribute to UNICEF?
The Forum on the Roger Moore Official website has been around for more than four years, it has since attracted thousands of fans and admirers. It has changed many people’s life and has also played a very positive role in raising the awareness of UNICEF.
I know that I have no right to speak for the thousands of Forum members, my proposal may also be unrealistic, but this idea has just popped into my head, I cannot help but to write it down here.
Yours sincerely,
Hong

Hi Hong

Well let's see what we can do. I can't promise I can dedicate hundreds (I'm being ever hopeful on my sales targets!) of books, but I'm sure we can arrange for some signed books or maybe some signed book plates.
