Most actors have at least one ghost story - especially if they've worked in the theatre.

I have a fascination with the supernatural, so I wonder if anything strange has ever happened to you.

Thanks for answering my Alan Partridge question.  It made my day.

Best wishes

Gary

Hi Gary

No I don't really have a ghost story I'm afraid, mind you a few of my old films often come back to haunt me.

I did have a few run ins with psychics who predicted things such as my son was going to be a world leader, and I shouldn't ride in a black car for a while ... but nothing really every happened to support their claims.

Surprise on Sunday morning…

As Austrian I am cursed with a certain interest for skiing. So this morning of  Sunday, 8th March, I was harmlessly sitting in front of my TV, watching the ladies downhill race in Crans Montana. I must admit however, that I was a bit less interested in the race as such but focused more of my attention to the background, to “the area where Roger Moore lives…”. And I must say I was deeply impressed by the sunshine on magnificent snow-covered mountaintops as well as the beautiful view to the valley down below.

And there the surprise of the day was waiting for me: Just in the very moment when I asked myself if you were at home or spending the winter under palm trees in a place like the Maldives again, the camera winded up to a beautiful house and there I saw - sitting on a balcony……… YOU!!!!

Unfortunately they showed you only for a few seconds but I noticed you were writing something. Even the commentator of the Eurosport channel mentioned: “The race is taking place in front of Roger Moore’s eyes”. I think it’s a bit difficult to live in privacy when one owns a house near the finish line of a World Cup Ski race

Did you enjoy watching the race while sitting in the sunshine? Do you watch ski races often?

Thank you very much and have a good springtime in your paradise like environment.

Best wishes

Martin

Hi Martin

Yes there was some uncertainty whether the race would go ahead as it was very mild leading up to the 8th, with little snowfall.

My wife Kristina thought we might put out some deck chairs in our garden and rent them out, whilst preparing drinks and snacks for them too, as our chalet faces the end of the ski slope - a perfect vantage point.

I did enjoy watching the race and recall the days when I too could ski downhill so quickly!

Hello Roger,

My question for you this month is about actors past and present. I have many actors I enjoy watching but, my 3 favorites are you Sir Roger, James Garner, and Keanu Reeves. All three of you are different but there is something in each of you that attracts me as similar and I can't really pinpoint what it is.

What do you think about James Garner and Keanu Reeves as actors and what younger generation actors do you enjoy and think are talented? I would love your opinion.

All the Best
Alana

Hello Alana

Well, I've known Jim Garner for many years and worked with him too. A lovely, lovely man. I don't know Keanu Reeves, but have seen a few of his films. He seems to be a very nice chap, and talented too. Perhaps he could ask for me on his next film, then I can tell you more.

Hello Sir Roger

I recentlt watched Shout at the Devil with Lee Marvin.  I seem to remember at the time of it's release in the film mag Photoplay you saying how you had to realy be at your best when on screen with him as otherwise he would steal every scene.

I wonder what memories tou have of working with him.

Also I have a book of your films and there was a picture taken on the set of Shout at the Devil where you were standing on one leg in a competition with Lee Marvin. I would be fascinated to know if you remember this and who won

Kinds regards

Bob

Hi Bob

I loved Lee.He was larger than life. However, he did like the drink and some days he'd come on set with rather red eyes, wild red eyes, and I knew I was in for trouble. On the day of the big fight, his eyes were more red than ever, and he actually thought it was a real fight - he swung at me very hard! Luckily I dodged his fists in time.

He did steal the scenes, there's no doubt about it. He deserved too as well. I've many happy memories of Lee, but I'm saving more of them for my book.

Dear Sir Roger:
I hope you and your family are doing fine.
Sometime ago I watched "The Man Who Wouldn't Die" and loved it. It had a very good climax and both you and Malcolm McDowell were great in it. Are you satisfied with how the film turned out? What was it like working with Malcolm McDowell?

Best Wishes,
Mateo

Hi Mateo

Yes I enjoyed making that movie in Canada. Malcolm was lovely to work with, and I had a sort of two-part role, which was fun. I don't think I got two salaries though!

I haven't seen the film for a while, but I think it holds together pretty well doesn't it?

Dear Sir Roger,

I am a big fan of yours from the Saint and the 007 series. I really enjoyed the film "Gold" which was directed by Peter Hunt, who also directed On Her Majestys Secret Service. I was wondering how you liked working for Director Hunt and could you speculate perhaps what it would have been like to work with him on a Bond film?

Kindest Regards

Erik Murphy

.

Hi Erik

Peter Hunt was a joy to work with. I did a Persuaders and then two movies with him, and I wish I'd have done more. He was of course an editor, and then moved on to becoming a director so he knew exactly how to cut a scene together, and he planned everything so well that there was never any time wasted. He loved actors too, so both his technical genius married to his love of actors made for a very, very happy working experience.

Peter was asked to return and direct For Your Eyes Only, however was committed to another film and it was not to be.
