Dear Sir Roger,

First of all, congratulations on your new born ‘baby’ (your autobiography, of course)!

Like every new parent, you must now feel extremely happy and excited. Your fans are also delighted.

May I ask to what extent this very well planned book meets your expectations? Apart from the ‘unprintable’ things that you do not wish to talk about, is there any thing that you would have liked to have put into the book, but due to limited space or other reasons that you couldn’t?

Thanks again for offering us this beautiful gift to share and treasure.

Oh, almost forgot, happy birthday!

Hong

Hello Hong

I'm very pleased with the book, and even more pleased to see a few decent reviews for it. Who'd have thought anyone would have bought it?

Aside from a few medical stories that were cut (my editor felt I'd suffered enough by age 14) I think it's all pretty much there. I'll no doubt think of other things in the coming months, so will have to write a part 2!

Dear Sir Roger,
I'm very excited about your new book (and a bit miffed we have to wait an extra month for it here in the States).

One of my favorite celebrity autobiographies is "My Wicked Wicked Ways" by the great Errol Flynn, which was made into a TV film starring Duncan Regehr.  Interestingly Flynn himself portrayed John Barrymore in the bio-pic "Too Much, Too Soon."  I sometimes enjoy these sorts of films, but in a way it's always odd to see an actor playing another actor, and I was wondering if you had any thoughts on this sub-genre of films.

As an actor, would you consider it something of a no-win scenario to take on the role of another well-known star?  And if they ever get around to making a film based on your own book, who would you like to see cast as the young Roger Moore?

Best David

Hi David

I think it's always difficult to take on the part of a very well known person, particularly if non-fictional. You get compared. But then I guess it depends on if the actor merely tries to impersonate his subject, or interpret.

I took on Sherlock Holmes, The Saint, Bond, Maverick etc after others and a few took them on after me - comparisons always fly around.

Who could play me? Well, me of course! Or failing that, how about Johnny Depp?

Dear Sir Roger,

May I take a moment of your precious time to firstly say thank you from the depth of my heart for giving me many happy hours of enjoyment through your extensive television and film career. I thoroughly enjoyed your portrayal of James Bond, Simon Templar and many others.

may I take this opportunity to wish you the happiest of birthdays and blessings for both yourself and your family.

I have been a fan for 30 years and have also had the honour, albeit briefly, to meet you at the night under the stars Charity evening in 2003.it was a pleasure to meet your extremely beautiful daughter too.

may I ask of all your James Bond films which location did you enjoy most and maybe which location you enjoyed least? I recently spent a holiday in Corfu and thoroughly enjoyed visiting many bond locations.

You must look back on your life with much pride and enjoyment -- I have so much respect for you. I would be proud to call you my friend.

Love and best wishes Steven

Hi Steven

Thank you for your kind words.

My favourite Bond film is The Spy Who Loved Me and that is partly due to the wonderful location of Sardinia. It was as close to heaven as I had known.

As for a location I enjoyed least ... probably when I shot my two Italian epics in the early 60s. Not fun times, and I suppose I relate that to not fun memories of being there too.

Dear Sir Roger,
Thank you, thank you for coming to Norwich and giving me the opportunity to finally meet you!  My Mum and I were first in the queue and when you asked me how long I had been waiting, I said about 30 years!  Actually it's nearer 35 years.  So sorry Mum had to mention about a letter my Dad wrote to you in 1987 asking for a good luck message for my pending wedding that year.  You looked so crest-fallen when she said you hadn't replied.  But now I have met you and Lady Kristina and even shook your hand, I'm still on cloud nine!  Hope you got the belated birthday card your 'minder' took from me.
My question: How long did it take to record the Audio CD?
By the way, fabulous book and fabulous CD!  Love it!
Yours, (Mar) Tina, Suffolk.

Hi Martina

Hope you got the signed picture that you left with your card. Thanks for coming out to Norwich and for waiting so long. I'm afraid time at signings is very limited and I'm always concious that many people have queued for a long time, and I therefore try my best to get through everyone in the hour.

The audio CD took about 6 hours to record, with a few breaks and lunch. It wasn't a long day, but it was a fun one!

Hello Sir Roger

I often wonder if actors keep any film props as mementos from their films etc

Do you have any clothes or articles from the very stylish Lord Brett form The Persuader who wore elegant neck scarves great suits and colourful shirts etc. Same question for The Saint and James Bond.....

If you have maybe you want to keep them as mementos ? And  If you have kept things have you ever thought about auctioning them off on Rog.com for UNICEF,  the fans would love them and I bet they would make a few ££££ I am sure.

Great autobiography reading it at the moment

Best
Sam

Hi Sam

I used to have a few suits from Bond, but they shrunk and I could no longer wear them. Scarfs and ties all went in charity auctions and it's been a few decades since then, so alas it's all gone!

My Word Is My Bond the Aoutobiography and also on CD narrated by Sir Roger Moore

Dear Roger

I had the pleasure of attending your talk and booksigning at the National Theatre earlier this month and meeting and having your book signed afterwards. I came all the way from Scotland specially to see you there being a MASSIVE fan of Bond and yourself.

I was lucky enough to have my question selected for answering on stage by Emma Forbes, in which I asked "It's a basic question, but what is your favourite Bond film that you have worked on?" And you answered me wonderfully - thank you indeed!

I do however, have another question which I hope you can find the time to answer this month:

I would like to know if you have met the actor Timothy Dalton of whom I am also a big fan of and if you did, what was he like to meet?

Thank you again, you are a true gent!

Jamie

Hi Jamie

Yes I've met Timothy many times, particularlyin the 1980s when he took on the role, as I used to see him at Cubby's house. We met subsequently (and sadly) at Cubby's memorial service and at the 40 years of Bond celebrations.

His discussion on stage will be online soon also.
