Sir Roger received a lifetime achievement award in Warsaw

On January 19th, during the Telekamery 2004 gala in the Polish Theatre in Warsaw, Sir Roger Moore received a lifetime achievement award.

Sir Roger arrived in Warsaw with his wife on January 18th. He stayed in the Intercontinental hotel where the press conference took place on the next day and after which he has been given a special present - amber cuff-links in golden setting. In the afternoon on January 19th Sir Roger met with his fans at the Traffic Club in the centre of Warsaw.

The main feature of Sir Roger's visit in Warsaw was the Telekamery gala which took place in the evening.

Sir Roger appeared on stage with real class, receiving a standing ovation. He was very suave and humourous which made the event even more special. It was a very big success for the organizers and Sir Roger's presence will be remembered as one of the highlights in the history of the gala.

On the very next day after the gala Sir Roger has sent his greetings to the organizers saying how happy he is about his visit in Poland.

Sir Roger Moore is a household name in Poland. He became famous in 60s and 70s, when "The Saint" and "Ivanhoe" were first shown on Polish television. In fact "The Saint" was the first modern TV series to be aired on Polish television, and Poland was the only country behind the Iron Curtian in which we could follow adventures of Simon Templar. The James Bond movies were forbidden at that time in Poland thus they weren't shown in theatres. When the video market spread in 1980s Poles at last managed to become familiar with Roger Moore's interpretation of Agent 007, James Bond. The Bond pictures with Moore became so popular within video collectors that in 1988 "Live and Let Die" and "Moonraker" were shown in theatres. 15 and 8 years after their original release both films have attracted lots of attention from Polish audience. Nowadays various Polish TV channels return to "The Saint", the Bonds and many other movies with Moore (such as "Gold", "North Sea Hijack", "Escape to Athena", "Bed & Breakfast", "Bullseye!" and "The Man Who Wouldn't Die") very often. All of the mentioned pictures are always high on the list when we look at the statistics. Also in 1996 when "The Quest" hit the big screen in Poland it soon became a box office hit with critical acclaim for Sir Roger's role as Lord Dobbs.

This website - launched in February 2002 - results entirely from an admiration for Sir Roger's activities. This website has already met with a very big interest, especially from young people and is available both in Polish and English. And... huge thanks again to Bartosz!
