Update The Empire movie magazine review of Tony Curtis receiving is lifetime achievement award from Sir Roger Moore, with some very nice pictures.here

The program that made the biggest impact on me personally was The Persuaders, when it was first shown in 1971. At the time I was a 13-year-old boy who avidly tuned in each week to watch my two heroes with their unique and special on-screen relationship, which was so exciting and fun. So tonight was so special for me with The Persuaders going to be publicly back together again when Sir Roger Moore, presented Tony Curtis with his award.

The evening began at approximately 6 p.m. when the celebrities began to arrive and were guided into the cordoned off area for the press photographers before moving on to the first-floor ceremony room.

Sir Roger arrived before Tony at approximately 6 15 p.m. Once Roger had allowed the frenzy of the press to have their fill he came into the main function room upstairs.

Sir Roger with Lady Kristina just outside the main function after all the press had been shooting James Bond and shouting where’s the gun Roger ?

I greeted Roger and his lovely wife Lady Kristina. One of the first things Sir Roger did was to very graciously thank me for helping him win a recent radio voting competition. Members of the public had to nominate their favorite celebrity and then that celebrity was approached and asked to telephone in and nominate their favorite charity. Then the public could listen to the celebrity’s phone calls and then they voted and they wish to win. Sir Roger was voted the most popular celebrity out of 110 celebrities on Virgin Radio, even though he had entered the competition on the very last day! As per usual Roger was extremely modest throughout, but what was most important to him was UNICEF received £10,000! My extremely small contribution was only to highlight the competition on Sir Roger's forum, and send out the newsletter, with the help of Martin a valued forum member

We then discussed how wonderful and fully deserving it was for Tony to receive this award. Suddenly I heard a whisper that Tony had arrived downstairs ! the star of the show tonight !

I went out into the main area and waited to greet him. After the main barrage of press had taken their photographs Tony come up to the first floor where yet again there was another small group of press photographers also waiting just outside the main function room?

So once again Tony and his lovely wife Jill posed for the photographs. One particular press man seemed to be very pushy and kept shouting “Tony look this way darling this one it's the one that is going to be in the papers tomorrow” Tony who is obviously an old hand at this took it all in his stride, and posed for the photographers in his usual flamboyant way.
